RAGA-RHYTHYM: 2020 MUSIC and DANCE Competition (Virtual)

We are excited to announce our RAGA~RHYTHM Competitions for Indian Musicians and Dancers from all across the United States!

Performance is a critical part of arts training, and we are delighted to offer a platform for talent to be showcased, celebrated, and recognized by audiences across the world. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges on the basis of technique, creativity, performance and more.

To enter the competition make sure to Register AND pay the Entry Fee. Details further below.

DANCE COMPETITION: held virtually on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 3:00 pm EST
Registration & Fee Payment: by November 8, 2020
Submission of Dance videos (YouTube link as an 'unlisted' video, and uploaded to a google drive-link will be emailed after registration): by November 21, 2020 to info@centerforartsandwellness.com.

Rules for Dance Competition:
- Ages: 6-8 yrs, 9-13 yrs, Teens (14-17 yrs), and Adults (18+ yrs)
- Genres: Dance can be in Classical forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Manipuri, Odissi or other; or in any Indian Folk Dance.
- Category: Solo, Duo and Group performances
- Time Limit: Classical Dance : 3 - 6 minutes; Folk Dance : 2 - 4 minutes.

3:00 pm - Carnatic Segment; At approximately 5:30 pm - Hindustani Segment
Registration & Fee Payment: by November 25, 2020

RULES for Music Competition:
- Ages: 6-8 yrs, 9-13 yrs, Teens (14-17 yrs), and Adults (18+ yrs)

Competition will be held virtually via Zoom. Participants and Ticket holders will receive a Zoom link for the competition closer to the competition date. Only one ticket is required per family so you can enjoy the show from the comfort of your home!

HALLOWEEN SCAVENGER HUNT (Social Distancing - Virtual Event)

The Center for Arts and Wellness invites families and friends, children and adults, to our first annual Halloween Scavenger Hunt event! The event is open to participants from all across the United States!

Participants will drive around their neighborhoods to find Halloween themed scavenger hunt items, each with points. Points can be also earned by dressing up and for most creative team name!

Participants will be given a list of scavenger hunt items at the start of the event. Teams will have 1.5 hours to find and take pictures of the objects and upload on our Facebook Event page. At the end of the event, the team with maximum points will win prizes.

Date and Time: Saturday, October 31, 2020; 3.30–5:00 pm EST, 2:30-4:00 pm CST, 12:30-2:00 pm PST, etc. (All participants irrespective of the location will start the game at the same time.)

Rules for Scavenger Hunt:
- Each team must consist of 2 to 6 participants.
- Participants can register and play from any location, but all teams should start the game at 3.30 PM EST (or equivalent time in other time zones) only.
- Participants should have a phone with camera, a Facebook account and car to travel.

VERVE 2020 - Festival of Performing Arts

The Center for Arts and Wellness is pleased to bring to you our 2nd Annual Festival of Performing Arts - VERVE 2020 on Sunday, May 17.

Join us for an extravaganza of artistically choreographed dances and creatively composed songs and renditions of classical music by young and adult students from the New England area.

The MUSIC Section will be held in the morning-afternoon time frame and will feature Indian (Hindustani and Carnatic styles, vocal and instrumental) and Western Music (Chorus, Piano, Guitar ensembles).

The DANCE Section will be held in the afternoon-evening time frame and will feature Indian dances such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Folk, and Bollywood and International dances such as Chinese, Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, Modern, Jazz, etc.

Location: Trottier Middle School in Southborough, MA.
*Exact Festival times will be announced in April.

Sitar and Tabla Concert

Saturday, October 19, 5:00 - 7:00 PM

Join us for an evening concert of Sitar and Tabla by SRINIVAS REDDY, a scholar and musician specializing in the sitar and music education, and AJIT ACHARYA, a tabla exponent, teacher of the Center, and performer!.

We invite students of music, both Western and Indian, to attend and learn more about Indian music, Indian music appreciation, and playing multi-string and traditional percussion instruments.
